Automotive Doorknob Inspection Information

The automotive doorknob is a small, multi-species part. Although this does not look very different from model to model, the design is different by model, and the left and right sides must be separated, resulting in a lot of cross-mixed production.

A vision inspection that identifies the model usually uses barcodes or RFID, but it is not desirable for automotive doorknob. It is desirable to avoid model classification and mixing by registering unique features in patterns for injection components such as automotive doorknobs.

For automotive manual gears, it is a combination of many bearings. In order to inspect a single manual gear, the operator must inspect a large number of bearings, and the overlapping parts of the shift gear must be inspected as the operator moves the gears, which naturally requires a lot of resources.

In the process of manufacturing auto parts with a mass production system, visual inspection is still being conducted by people who are not automatic vision inspection. The inspection for the existence of parts is the first step in automation in the form of vision inspection with less difficulty.

A simple vision algorithm can be used to examine the presence and absence, but in the automotive sector, most of the parts are made of metal, so care is required when constructing an optical environment. Metal reflects badly when light is emitted, so the image of the reflected part is saturated as white when the image is acquired by the camera.

On the other hand, if you take advantage of these optical properties, you can configure the system with a simple vision inspection algorithm. If the vision inspection area is white, then the metallic parts exist, and if the vision inspection area is not white, then the metallic parts do not exist.

Due to the trend of miniaturization and precision of parts, very precise dimensional inspection is required on the inspection equipment. The introduction of vision inspections for dimensional inspection can significantly improve precision and speed.

Due to the trend of miniaturization and precision of parts, very precise dimensional inspection is required on the inspection equipment. The introduction of vision inspections for dimensional inspection can significantly improve precision and speed.

The car's lead frames have different processing shapes and sizes at the top and bottom, requiring simultaneous inspection of the top and bottom sections, but the client's existing solutions have only one slot at a time, making them less productive.

Brake Pad Inspection Information

3D Camera
This is an example of the application of brake pads that are essential to the vehicle. Laser can be used with Spot or Line Laser.

Because the Spot Laser Sensor uses a point-type laser source, it is possible to inspect the sample area, but it is difficult to check the face. Of course, you can use the Spot Laser Sensor to change the measurement point, such as the Line Laser, but it is not applicable due to the production time. When inspecting brake pads, the number of Spot Laser Sensors must be installed proportionally in proportion to the inspection area (horizontal axis line). In addition, defects that are caused other than the inspection line cannot be detected.




The disadvantage of this Spot Laser Sensor can be overcome by 3D Camera using Line Laser developed by LAON PEOPLE. For Line Laser 3D Camera, you can obtain the surface height information required for the examination with one scan.

The solution allows you to inspect the entire surface height (or flatness inspection) that is difficult to measure using the Spot Laser Sensor, including measurements of dimensions such as width, area, and hole that can be measured using 2D Camera.

Unlike 2D Camera or Spot Laser Sensors, which are cumbersome to install by measuring area or item, 3D Camera is the best choice for the brake pad inspection, allowing all inspections with scanning for once.

These inspections should also be based on accurate 3D images. As shown in [figure 3], you can obtain 3D information to perform accurate examinations based on a stable peak detection compared to the competition.

 

[figure 4] is an example of a total surface inspection in which the height of a specific area is measured below the set reference value. Simply put, for normal products, the color that corresponds to the height is continuous, but for non-normal products, it shows non-continuity in certain areas.
[figure 5] is an example of a side crack being detected in addition to a surface height inspection and is using height information, the most important function of the 3D Camera. It is difficult to detect using lighting conditions because the normal and crack parts do not differ in color when using 2D Camera.

The tool in the vision inspection software has been used to satisfy the nine inspection requirements as shown below.

1) Check the existence of caulking (six positions)
