What is the Laon People 3D Laser Profile Camera?

Now is the age of 3D vision inspection. Depending on the application area, 3D can be the best choice, not 2D. Laon People's 3D camera, developed for the first time in Korea in the form of a line laser profile, can be applied to various tests using 3D matching beyond the limits of conventional 2D vision inspection.

Because the laser profile is a collection of points, the correct 3D inspection can not be done if the peak detection of the points is incorrect. By applying more accurate peak detection with the self-developed peak detection algorithm that compensates for the shortcomings of Max, COG, and Gaussian algorithms, both precision and stability are secured. In addition, Z-axis vibration correction function is added to prevent parts that may interfere with inspection due to moving environment or surrounding environment when moving inline products.

Existing 3D cameras must measure using API provided by the manufacturer, realize the calibration function, or purchase expensive separate software packages, with the exception of the viewer. However, Laon People's 3D camera can measure and calibrate at the same time as purchasing, without purchasing and implementing a 3D camera or purchasing a separate software package.

The laser light source may cause measurement results to change or malfunction due to the influence of material, color, and external lighting conditions on the measurement object. Laon People's 3D Camera uses its own laser-finding technology to acquire robust profile data in a variety of environments

More Precise Peak Detection

Because the laser profile is a collection of points, correct 3D checking cannot be done if the peak detection of the points is incorrect. It ensured the both precision and stability with applying Max, COG, and Gaussian algorithms, which are complemented their disadvantages by a self-developed peak detection algorithm.

Powerful Algorithms with Minimal User Configuration

The powerful algorithms of Laon People minimize user setting operations with high-quality laser profile data. If the laser image is not acquired perfectly, it can obtain good quality profile data through the Laon People's own peak detection algorithm.

Support of Laser Power Control

If the reflectance of the 3D inspection material is high, the low laser power is required. If the reflectance is low, the high laser power is required. Laon People's 3D camera supports laser power control function, allowing material inspection with various reflectance. Since the power supply(+12VDC) and laser power adjustment(0~+ 4VDC) of the laser module are provided directly from the 3D camera, it eliminates the inconvenience of installing a separate device for separate power supply and power adjustment to the laser.

According to the user's choice in the profile obtained by scanning an object, clear object recognition data can be acquired through the noise elimination algorithm on the COP (Cloud of Point) as shown in the figure below. The filter types of the profile data are Average, Median Smooth, and Removal.

Multi-camera Solution to Minimize Occlusion

Considering the features of 3D Camera or Scanner, there are invisible parts in the camera image depending on the shape as object moves, which is a shade area, for acquiring images. To improve this, more accurate dimension information of object shape can be obtained by using dual camera.

Multi-camera Solution for FOV Extension

It is available to extend FOV and compose images using multiple 3D Cameras for measuring objects of various sizes.
