Inspection for the Breakage of Bottle Inlet Information

The client company that manufactures an empty bottle wanted to introduce the Vision Solution to check for breakage to the inlet of empty bottle during the manufacturing process.

 


 

To inspect the front of the empty bottle inlet, the inlet (screw) was taken from the top of the empty bottle, and the broken empty bottles were inspected using the fact that the screw was cut off.


 In order to check the various types of cutting on screws, LAON PEOPLE classified them as good/poor and used deep learning to learn the image and perform the inspection accurately.

An identification label is attached to the packaging box so that the product number and product information can be identified, or the identification is printed directly on the packaging box itself.

Label (or packaging direct printing) vision solutions should be able to read optical character (OCR) and barcodes by default. However, simply reading letters and barcodes is not enough. A large amount of ink can cause ink to smudge on labels or packaging, and a lack of ink can lead to incomplete printing. In addition, due to malfunction or aging of the label printing device, there may be print failures in unintended areas.

For direct printing of packaging, the defect may be more serious. In general, labels tend to have common quality characteristics due to the nature of mass printing, but in case of packaging direct printing, the quality is uneven, and the packaging must be printed directly, resulting in different defects depending on the packaging material.

The clients asked for a rigorous quality check that was printed directly on the TV package. In addition to OCR and bar code readings, the clients wanted tests for various print failures to be implemented as a single inspection system rather than multiple inspection systems. They also wanted to minimize inspection time to enable mass production.

LAON PEOPLE built a system that could handle a variety of complex examinations quickly with one system, providing vision solutions that can be used for simple identification as well as determination of ink smudging and ink scattering.

3D Camera
Even if the background of the shoot is the same color as the product, or if height screening is required at the top, you can use the 3D camera to check for defective parts. Although height screening is possible when taking side shots with 2D cameras, it is very difficult to inspect using 2D vision S/W as it is difficult to take side shots due to the packaging structure.

However, using height information using 3D cameras makes it easy to select bad products.
[Figure 1] is a sample to show poor connector body height screening using a 3D camera. Can you tell which connector is defective by looking at the picture on the left?
The height of the 2D camera at the top is difficult to distinguish and the side shot is not applicable due to the examination environment, so eventually the height information through the 3D camera should be used to select.

[Figure 2] shows an example of an inspection of the presence/backward/double loading of the tray parts using a 3D camera. Most of TRAY=black and Parts=black, so there is a limit to inspection using lighting and 2D cameras. However, using the height information of the 3D camera, the defect is clearly visible as shown in
